Egmont Road Home
The Home
With a larger property comes greater energy demand, making Egmont Road an ideal candidate for a high-capacity solar and battery system. The goal was to generate enough energy to support the property throughout the day, while capturing surplus solar for use later when household demand continued but solar production had dropped away.
The Installation
Solaris designed a larger system combining 12.6 kW of rooftop solar, 14.3 kWh of battery storage and a 10 kW hybrid inverter.
The 28 all black 450 W panels provide a substantial amount of daytime generation, supplying the property first before surplus solar is directed into the battery. Any remaining excess can then be exported back to the grid.
With 14.3 kWh of battery capacity, the system has been designed to hold a significant amount of the solar energy produced during the day for use later in the afternoon and into the evening.
It is a sizable system, designed to support higher daytime demand while also storing enough surplus generation to make a meaningful difference outside solar production hours.
The Result
The result is a high capacity solar and battery setup designed to materially reduce the property's reliance on grid supplied electricity.
With 12.6 kW of solar available, the system can support larger daytime loads while also charging the battery when conditions allow. The stored energy can then take over a greater share of demand once solar generation starts to fall away.
Actual performance will vary with weather, seasonal generation and the property's load profile, but the combination of a large solar array and 14.3 kWh of storage gives the system a strong platform for high self consumption and reduced grid imports across the year.

Kōwhai Home
The Home
This home is a modern family property with the kind of everyday energy demands that continue well beyond daylight hours. The homeowners were looking for a practical way to make better use of solar energy generated during the day, while reducing the amount of power they needed to draw from the grid in the evenings.
The Installation
Solaris designed a system combining 7.2 kW of rooftop solar, 10.24 kWh of battery storage and a 5 kW hybrid inverter.
The 16 full black 450 W panels generate electricity throughout the day, supplying the home first before surplus solar is directed into the battery. That stored energy can then be called on later in the day and into the evening, reducing the amount of electricity the household needs to purchase from the grid.
With just over 10 kWh of battery capacity, the system is designed to capture and keep a meaningful amount of the solar energy produced on site, rather than simply sending excess generation back to the grid.
It is a compact but capable system, designed to improve self consumption and shift more of the home's solar generation into the hours when it is actually needed.
The Result
The result is a balanced solar and battery setup focused on making better use of the energy generated on the roof.
During good solar conditions, the 7.2 kW array can cover a significant share of daytime household demand while also charging the battery. Once solar generation drops away, that stored energy can then continue supplying the home into the evening before grid power is required.
The system provides a strong platform for higher self consumption and lower reliance on grid supplied electricity.

Brooklands Family Home
The Home
For this Brooklands family home, the goal was simple: make better use of the energy being generated on the roof and reduce the household’s reliance on the grid.
Like many busy family homes, energy use doesn’t necessarily line up with the hours the sun is shining. Mornings and evenings can be some of the busiest times, making battery storage an important part of creating a solar system that works around the household – not the other way around.
The Installation
Solaris designed a system combining approximately 9.9 kW of rooftop solar, 20.48 kWh of battery storage and a 10 kW hybrid inverter.
The solar panels generate electricity throughout the day, supplying the home first before surplus energy is directed into the battery. That stored energy can then be called on later in the day and into the evening, reducing the amount of electricity the family needs to purchase from the grid.
With more than 20 kWh of battery capacity, the system has been designed to capture and keep more of the solar energy produced on site, rather than simply sending excess generation back to the grid.
It’s a sizeable system, but importantly, one designed around how this particular household actually uses its power.
The Result
Even in the final stretch of winter, this Brooklands system is already putting up some impressive numbers since install.
During August, the system generated 535.8 kWh of solar energy, while the home consumed 439.1 kWh over the same period. Battery storage is also playing a significant role, with 75% of the home's recorded consumption supplied through battery discharge and just 25% imported directly from the grid.
For a system still operating through the shorter days of winter, it's an encouraging early look at what's possible

Fitzroy Family Home
The Home
This Fitzroy home wanted to reduce its reliance on the grid with a solar system designed specifically for the way the household uses electricity. After assessing the property, roof orientation and energy usage, we designed a system tailored to deliver the best possible performance for this family home.
The Installation
The system was installed in the middle of winter, which is typically the most challenging time of year for solar generation. Even during the shortest days of the year, it was producing impressive results from day one.
The Result
In its first full month, the system generated 294 kWh of solar energy, with almost all of it put to use within the home, either powering the household directly or charging the battery for later.
Together, solar and stored battery energy supplied around 35% of the home's total electricity needs, reducing the family's reliance on the grid during one of the least productive solar months of the year. With longer, sunnier days still to come, that's a pretty impressive place to start.
